Homemade Marinara, Appleseed Cast, and OCD Riesling

I know your back from your trip, but I spent my day vacuming the ceiling.  So...its pasta baby, wheat pasta baby!!  Thank God I busted my tail last October canning the Heirlooms because this sauce is going to be killer, and a snap.

Nothing much can be done these days without playing my new favorite band The Appleseed Cast.  I feel 20 years old again listening to them.  The Boulder days...thank God those are over.

Here is my recipe but you could always try this Spaghetti All'Ubriaco instead...sounds awesome.

Marinara Sauce in a Hurry
1 Large Onion
1 Quart Canned Tomatoes or 1 24 oz can
3 Garlic Cloves
2 Carrots
2 teas Sel gris (ground)
1 teas Black Pepper
1 teas dried Basil
1 teas dried Thyme or herb of choice
2 Tbls Olive Oil
1/4 Cup of Last night's Cote du Rhone or other red wine

Saute onion in olive oil for 5 minutes add garlic and saute 5 more minutes, add tomatoes, herbs, carrots, salt, pepper and wine.  Cook at least 15 minutes.  To hide the veggies and to create a better match for the spaghetti I used a hand blender to smooth it out.  Served with garlic toast made from Nightingale Bakery
baguette.  THE best baguette in Sonoma and Marin Counties, hands down.

And because the Cote Du Rhone is of course gone we will drink the 2008 OCD Riesling and talk of all the people that owe us money, where to store the HOBO sweatshirts, our first lawsuit, and our trip to Tahoe next week...
